Corporate Litigation
- Assisted in a winding-up petition against a prominent holding company under s.465(1)(h) of the Companies Act 2016.
- Assisted in successfully resisting a shareholders’ injunction application seeking to restrain the issuance of Employee Share Option Scheme shares pending an EGM.
Commercial Litigation
- Assisted in a Federal Court appeal arising from a complex trespass action, which raised novel questions on pre-judgment interest and continuing causes of action.
- Assisted in an appeal before the Court of Appeal, acting for the Plaintiff/Respondent in a dispute concerning the wrongful termination of an ICT system agreement.

International Arbitration & Related Court Applications
- Confidential AIAC Arbitration – Acted as an arbitrator assistant in an international arbitration concerning a dispute arising out of a project management services agreement for the construction of a supermarket.
- Assisted in resisting a stay application under s.10 of the Arbitration Act 2005, contending that oppression claims under s.346 of the Companies Act 2016 were squarely within the court’s jurisdiction.

Yu Jian is a newly qualified advocate, specialising in corporate and commercial litigation. He completed his pupillage under Gopal Sreenevasan, during which he gained substantial exposure to high-profile and complex corporate and commercial disputes. He also maintains a keen interest in international arbitration, with a particular focus on investor-state disputes.
He has been instructed by, and works regularly with, legal practitioners and law firms in other jurisdictions, including Singapore and Hong Kong. Prior to qualifying, he undertook mini-pupillages at leading commercial and chancery sets in London, notably 3 Verulam Buildings, Quadrant Chambers, Serle Court, and Keating Chambers.
